Glenhowl Lodge

Glenhowl Lodge is a detached Victorian gate lodge standing on elevated ground with views across open countryside. Built as part of a historic estate, the property retains period character while offering practical modern comfort. Two bedrooms sleep four: one with a super king bed, the other with two single beds. There's one bathroom with a bath and shower, and the essentials—electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wi-fi—are included.

The ground floor has a comfortable living room with a wood burner and Freeview TV, plus a kitchen-dining room equipped for proper cooking. An enclosed lawned garden with seating areas and a bike store make this a natural base for exploring the surrounding trails. There's parking for three cars on site. The property suits cyclists and walkers particularly well: it sits centrally to five of the 7 Stanes mountain bike centres, and the Southern Upland Way long-distance walk runs nearby. Dark Skies Park is within reach, and Castle Douglas—Scotland's Food Town—lies 16 miles south. Dumfries and Galloway villages, fishing spots and walking routes are all close by. One well-behaved pet is welcome. No smoking inside.
