Wonderful hotel in an old building. The room is small but cozy. The beds are great. They provide tea/coffee/milk in a room. Please note the steep stairs and small bathroom. The location is perfect - walking distance to the city center, 1 m to bus/tram stops. There is a charge for storing your luggage after checkout.

Wasn't made to feel at all welcome, just waved up the stairs once my name had been ticked off, like I was some kind of inconvenience. The "private" bathroom was outside the room and when I went to use it, there was someone in there. I sat in the room for 20 minutes soaking up the ambience and decided to just leave and stay somewhere else. Save yourself a hassle and stay somewhere else.

We had a very disappointing experience staying at 16 Pilrig. If there were any minus stars I would give it We paid a significant amount for a 2-night stay, but the room we were given was extremely small—so small that even three people standing felt cramped. It appeared to be a loft/attic-style room on the top floor, which made things even more uncomfortable. There was no lift, and no staff available to help with luggage. We had to carry all our heavy suitcases up very steep stairs, which was especially difficult while traveling with a child. One of the biggest issues was the complete lack of ventilation. The room had no proper windows—only a tiny roof window on the ceiling. It felt extremely suffocating, especially at night. We even requested a fan, but the staff refused, saying they didn’t have one. With a child, staying in such a poorly ventilated room was very uncomfortable and stressful. The service was equally disappointing. The staff were not cooperative or considerate at all. At checkout, they refused even a 1-hour extension and immediately mentioned extra charges. While other places we’ve stayed have been flexible, here everything felt very rigid and money-focused. What was most surprising was that they charged £5 just to store our luggage for a few hours after checkout—even though we had already stayed there for two nights. It’s not about the amount, but the attitude toward guests. Additionally, the bathroom was not even inside the room—we had to step out of the room to access it, which was extremely inconvenient and uncomfortable, especially as women traveling with a child. This was never mentioned during booking. There was no clear information provided about room size, lack of lift, floor level, or bathroom arrangement at the time of booking. This lack of transparency is unacceptable. Overall, this stay felt overpriced, inconvenient, and poorly managed. Despite available rooms, we were given one of the smallest and least comfortable options. I would not recommend this property to anyone, especially families.

I stayed here because it was the most affordable option at the time and the location is excellent. The room was very clean and had a pleasant view. Parking is limited, but free street parking is available at night, which made it manageable.
