About Moxy Edinburgh Airport

Edinburgh Airport sits at the edge of the city, with the tram line running into the centre for anyone keen to combine a flight with some sightseeing. Moxy Edinburgh Airport is built for exactly that connection, close enough to the terminal to walk it, which makes it a practical base for early departures or late arrivals.

The hotel has 230 rooms across five floors, all with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and free WiFi, plus family and accessible rooms for those who need them. The lobby has a reputation for being sociable and modern, with Bar Moxy at its centre, and there's a restaurant, snack bar, and both breakfast and packed lunches available for guests heading to a flight. A 24-hour gym, games room, business and meeting facilities, and concierge services round out the practical side, though some guests have noted the air conditioning doesn't always keep pace and that on-site parking comes with a charge and the odd unexpected fine.

Pets are welcome, and outdoor seating and a picnic area give some room to stretch out before a flight. Beyond the airport itself, there's a golf course, pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, making the hotel workable for a short stopover or a proper night before heading into Edinburgh on the tram.

I've stayed at this hotel a few times over winter when I needed to be at the airport for a 5am check in and it was great. However this was the first time in late spring/early summer. First - I can't see how they justify a room that cost £92 in April is now £199 in May. The £10 car parking fee on top of this extortionate room rate is not value for money. Second - the rooms were HOT! The thermostat on the AC said 26 deg. Annoyingly as a cost cutting measure (disguised as environmental measure) the AC is centrally controlled and can't be adjusted by the customer - there is a generic sign suggesting if it is too hot then open the window. This might work in a high rise above a city centre, but at this location it just means that the excellent soundproof windows can no longer do their job and all you can hear are planes taking off and landing on the runway 250m from the hotel. It seems you are condemned to be either roasted or deafened! The rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean, as were the hallways. There is no sign of any gym on the premises, but there is a big bar area in reception. I'm not a fan of the big communal tables and when travelling for business could live without the mini amusement arcade. If you are using it for the airport then you are in the right place, it is only a 250m walk to the airport with about 150m of that journey under a covered walkway. The staff are brilliant, really helpful and a credit to the organisation, it is just a pity that the prices fluctuate so wildly.

I had a great stay at Moxy. The location is perfect, within walking distance of the airport, which makes it very convenient for early flights or layovers. The staff were always friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I really loved the modern decoration and the fun atmosphere of the hotel. The games, photo booth, and common areas made the waiting time much more enjoyable and entertaining. Overall, it was a comfortable and pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel near the airport.

It’s an airport hotel that does everything you need. If airport hotels had personalities, the Moxy Edinburgh Airport would definitely be the cool one in the room. Stylish in bold purple and black, it feels more boutique hangout than typical airport stopover. The location is spot on — an easy, refreshing walk to the terminal at Edinburgh Airport, even when dragging a couple of large bags behind you. No shuttle stress required. Breakfast from 06:00 is simple but tasty, perfect for an early flight. All in all, a cool, relaxed airport hotel that makes the start of a journey feel far less rushed. Parking fees are questionable but it’s right next to airport and it would be abused if they didn’t charge!

There were so many things wrong with this hotel. Most importantly I got beaten by bed bugs during my stay. A line of red marks on my foot that my doctor said is typical of bed bugs and I am lucky didn’t get me some worse infection. But if you notice how the place is cleaned, it isn’t a surprise that there are bugs. Even when they brought new towels for us they left them on the toilet seat, and this is not the only unhygienic thing we saw happening. The room was visibly dirty and hygiene standards among cleaners apparently poor. During our stay a car was literally on fire just outside of the hotel back door. The rooms were full of smoke and carbon monoxide. We woke up in the bad air. But they didn’t evacuate. Later we had to get our bags in hands and walk a very big distance due to the fire department having blocked some entrances. However, they still sent us a huge parking charge. Larger parking charge than the parking price advertised. The food at the restaurant was terrible. The falafel seemed it was a mix of older leftovers and fresher falafel. The employees were never trained in basic skills and were not familiar with the products sold or the processing. All Moxy hotels were have been to offer welcome drink. Not this one. The advertised distance to the airport is misleading. You still need to catch a bus for one stop (especially since you carry baggage) or call a taxi.
