About Peacocks Tearoom and Fine B&B
Peacocks combines an award-winning tearoom with a small, characterful bed and breakfast, set in a Georgian building directly on Ely's riverside quay at Waterside. Two suites, the Brewery House and the Cottage, sit above the tearoom, each with its own sitting room, sofa bed and antique furnishings that give the place a genuinely homely feel rather than a standard B&B layout.
Downstairs, the tearoom serves homemade cakes, light lunches and an extensive list of teas in a garden setting overlooking the river, and has built a loyal following well beyond overnight guests. Breakfast for B&B guests draws on the same kitchen, with a full cooked option alongside lighter choices.
Its riverside position puts guests a short, level walk from the cathedral and city centre, and the tearoom's own reputation makes it as much a destination for a visit as a place to stay. The B&B welcomes children over the age of twelve.
What guests say
We were greeted by George on a very busy Sunday afternoon- what a warm welcome. We were in the Cottage which is by far the best B&B we have stayed in, overlooking the garden everything you could possibly want. Great position overlooking the river and very central to all locations . We did eat in the tea rooms the food was excellent so well presented and very tasty and more than enough to satisfy . Breakfast was brilliant definitely recommend the granola fruit yogurt it looked to good to eat. Options for breakfast were a pleasant change from “the full English “ to many to mention. The only sad part was we were only there for one night but what a find, xx

A Memorable Stay – Perfect for Visitors to Ely We had a truly wonderful stay at Peacocks Tearoom in Ely. We were lucky enough to stay in what can only be described as a beautifully appointed suite overlooking the river – complete with its own private living room, offering both comfort and privacy in equal measure. From the moment we arrived (by bike), the warm and friendly service was outstanding. George, in particular, was an excellent host – welcoming, attentive, and always happy to help. The complimentary tea and cake on arrival was a lovely and much-appreciated treat. Breakfast in the morning was exceptional – cooked to a very high standard and served in a charming, relaxed setting. Whether you're visiting Ely for the first time or returning, Peacocks Tearoom offers a memorable experience and a thoroughly pleasant stay. An absolute must for anyone looking for something special.

Possibly the nicest B&B I've ever stayed in: Huge suite with separate lounge, bedroom and bathroom, cosy, really comfortable bed, impeccably clean, beautiful decor, homely and amazing breakfast (have the granola and croque madame is my recommendation - delicious). Staff are really friendly and always helpful. Service is great. Location is perfect - right next to the riverside with beautiful walks and eateries, really short and easy walk into the centre and Cathedral. And obviously the superb tearooms downstairs in the day - the best I've been to as well. I will be back! Love it. Thank you so much to Christian and the rest of the staff for a wonderful stay.
