About Castle House Hotel
Castle House occupies a Grade II listed Regency townhouse on the edge of the old castle green, its gardens running down to the moat only minutes from Hereford Cathedral and High Town. The hotel is independently run and decorated in a country-house style, with individually furnished rooms split between the main house and a second townhouse a few doors along.
The restaurant draws on Herefordshire beef, lamb and seasonal produce, much of it from the owners' own farm, and has built a reputation as one of the better dining rooms in the city rather than simply a hotel restaurant. A walled garden and terrace give guests a quiet outdoor spot in what is otherwise a very central location.
Its position by the castle green and river makes it an easy walk to the cathedral, the Old House and Left Bank Village, while private parking is available for guests arriving by car.

What guests say
I spent two nights at Castle House in Hereford and had a genuinely lovely stay. My room was beautiful, comfortable, and full of character — a place where you immediately feel at ease. What really stood out was the service: exceptionally friendly, warm, and attentive throughout. Every interaction felt personal and sincere, creating a welcoming atmosphere that carries through the whole house. Breakfast was a real highlight. Everything was delicious, but the avocado bread with perfectly poached eggs and the waffles were especially memorable — easily something to look forward to in the morning. I’m very much looking forward to returning and would like to congratulate the entire team on an extraordinary job, truly well done

We stayed for one night at Castle House Hotel Hereford for a weekend. The price was very reasonable and they had a small carpark less than a 2 minutes walk from the hotel. It was a narrow and tight entrance, but it was helpful if you wanted to go shopping/site seeing in the town centre. The walk to the main shopping centre is about 15 minutes, there quaint shops to browse whist you walk. The centre has a variety of places to eat, I would recommend booking for some these places especially if it's at the weekend. The staff are very nice and helpful, the room was a nice and spacious it accommodated two people. It was a little cold in the room the radiators were situated in the main sitting area and nine in the bedroom. We had a window view if the front street. There was a choice of breakfast, I had a waffle with yogurt and a caramelised banana with rooibos tea. My husband had two eggs on toast with coffee. Breakfast was nice and the restaurant wasn't busy for breakfast until 9am. We would definitely stay there again.

Great hotel!!! Staff are extremely welcoming and super friendly and will do their best with any request. The rooms were exceptional and was lucky with the parking that was 3 mins round the side, which is on a first come first serve basis. Breakfast at this place is everything you want! I had the traditional and it was the perfect size and tasted great, brown sauce added for good measure! The bar is well stocked and great range of drinks. We hotel also had the same space for a drinks function which was great and the bar kept moving too! The beauty is the location of this place and how easy it is to get around! There are so many nice walks through the city and the cathedral is a stone throw away. Restaurants and bars are walking distance as are all the shops.

We have stayed here several times over the last 12 years, which is a recommendation in itself!! It never fails to please! High standards of food, service, accommodation, cleanliness and friendliness are maintained at every visit. We took advantage of the Sunday lunch and overnight stay and breakfast this time and have been delighted by the offer. Sunday lunch was delicious and generous, with great choices for each course. The Castle House is well situated, close to the Cathedral, the city centre and the Bishop’s Gardens. It has a small private car park and on-street parking is available in the street around the front. It is more than worth a visit - it is a MUST! -
