Photo: Killerby Old Hall Holiday Cottages & Caravan Park

Two miles inland from Cayton Bay, Killerby Old Hall sits among rolling countryside between Filey and Scarborough. The complex combines six separate cottages around a courtyard, each with its own sitting area, and Chestnut is one of the smaller units, sleeping up to six across two bedrooms and a bathroom. The setting includes an orchard and lake on the grounds, with the North Yorkshire coast and its heritage landscapes nearby.

The cottage is all on one floor. The first bedroom has two single beds, the second a kingsize; the bathroom has both a shower cubicle and a bath. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking—electric oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge—and there's a living room with a smart TV. Your own private hot tub is on the sitting-out area. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi come as standard; a welcome pack and travel cot are provided too. The on-site bistro, Nine Eighty, is open daily for breakfast through to late evening (hours vary by day). Guests have use of the shared heated indoor pool, changing facilities, and a play area with swings and slide. No smoking throughout. There's private parking and a bike store on site.

First time staying in the lakeside lodges. Had a lovely stay. Location is great- beautiful clean site-lodge was spotless & everything has been thought of. The lodge was extremely hot as was hot outside so we were glad we took a fan. Great smart tv in The lodge. Lots of ducks & rabbits around. Such a peaceful stay. Beds & pillows were really comfy. We didn’t use the pool but is great there is one on site. We were gutted that the restaurant was closed for food mon-Wednesday and it was a shame as we were hoping to eat in there. We did have a drink there though-the lady serving was lovely & great price for the drinks. The building inside is stunning. We would definitely stay again & would love to try the cottage or the hall next time.

No bedding provided for the bunk beds, hot plate almost impossible to use, space absolutely tiny. Did not see a single member of staff all weekend. At nearly £200/night it was overpriced & underwhelming. Would not return or recommend.

Tourind caravan pitch was large and wide. Car parked nicely next to the caravan, although they had a big public car park near by, as the bar/restaurant was open to everyone at the site and visitors/punlic too. Staff are super friendly and welcoming and the food was superb and we enjoyed the cocktails too. 10/10 recommend.

We stayed in Dovecote Cottage: Positive: 1 - Friendly staff. 2- Clean warm rooms. Negative: 1- No information on how to operate the dishwasher. Unable to Google operating instructions as the make was not on it. 2-The step down to the patio on which the hot tub was located was loose, and needs securing. 3-The large outdoor rubbish wheelie bins were overflowing with black bin bags some of which had torn open with food waste on the floor.
