Killerby Old Hall - Yard End
North Yorkshire
View on Google MapsThe North Yorkshire coast around Scarborough draws families year-round, and Killerby Old Hall—a countryside retreat just two miles from Cayton Bay—makes a solid base for exploring it. The property is one of six cottages set around a courtyard within grounds that include an orchard, a small lake, and a shared heated indoor swimming pool open daily from 7am to 8pm.
Yard End itself is a six-bedroom cottage with three bathrooms, sleeping 12 across bedrooms that range from a kingsize to singles. Ground floor has a living room and dining room both opening onto a patio, plus a kitchen equipped for cooking proper meals—electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer. Upstairs are the remaining four bedrooms. Essentials like electricity, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are included. There's a private hot tub in the garden, enclosed and furnished with patio seating. Parking is available for four cars; a laundry room operates on coins if you need it.
The grounds are shared with other guests but also include a play area for younger children and a bike store. An on-site bistro, Nine Eighty, serves food and drink daily. The property does not permit smoking. It suits large groups—extended families or friends travelling together—who want to be near the seaside without staying in town.

First time staying in the lakeside lodges. Had a lovely stay. Location is great- beautiful clean site-lodge was spotless & everything has been thought of. The lodge was extremely hot as was hot outside so we were glad we took a fan. Great smart tv in The lodge. Lots of ducks & rabbits around. Such a peaceful stay. Beds & pillows were really comfy. We didn’t use the pool but is great there is one on site. We were gutted that the restaurant was closed for food mon-Wednesday and it was a shame as we were hoping to eat in there. We did have a drink there though-the lady serving was lovely & great price for the drinks. The building inside is stunning. We would definitely stay again & would love to try the cottage or the hall next time.

No bedding provided for the bunk beds, hot plate almost impossible to use, space absolutely tiny. Did not see a single member of staff all weekend. At nearly £200/night it was overpriced & underwhelming. Would not return or recommend.

Tourind caravan pitch was large and wide. Car parked nicely next to the caravan, although they had a big public car park near by, as the bar/restaurant was open to everyone at the site and visitors/punlic too. Staff are super friendly and welcoming and the food was superb and we enjoyed the cocktails too. 10/10 recommend.

We stayed in Dovecote Cottage: Positive: 1 - Friendly staff. 2- Clean warm rooms. Negative: 1- No information on how to operate the dishwasher. Unable to Google operating instructions as the make was not on it. 2-The step down to the patio on which the hot tub was located was loose, and needs securing. 3-The large outdoor rubbish wheelie bins were overflowing with black bin bags some of which had torn open with food waste on the floor.
