About Travelodge Northampton Central

A seven-minute walk from the Mayorhold Shoppers multi-storey car park, Travelodge Northampton Central occupies a handy spot on Gold Street in the heart of the city. With 65 rooms spread across four floors, it's built for straightforward, no-fuss stays close to the railway station and the Grosvenor Centre, with the M1 and A43 both within easy reach for anyone arriving by car.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and drinks available in-room, and accessible rooms are on offer for those who need them. A lift serves all floors, and there's a restaurant on site along with 24-hour reception, so late check-ins aren't a problem. An electric vehicle charge point is available, and pets are welcome. It should be said that some rooms have been reported as showing their age and can suffer from noise, so light sleepers might want to request a quieter spot.

Outside the hotel, Northampton's pubs, bars and entertainment venues are all within walking distance, and there's a McDonald's nearby for a quick bite. Staff are consistently described as helpful, and the hotel is generally regarded as solid value for the price, making it a sensible base for a short city stay rather than a destination in itself.

I've stayed in many Travelodges, which are usually great, and I know what to expect. This one was unfortunately the exception. We booked a family room, but it seemed like they just put 2 extra folding beds into a too-small room. Nothing against folding beds, but there was insufficient space and storage for the number of visitors, especially the bathroom, which had a full size bath (nice!) but the room was an extremely awkward shape and barely any space. We visited in very hot weather, and booked here specifically because it has air conditioning. It was extremely noisy and barely effective. The windows are sealed shut so no other ventilation. Had long waits at the front desk for staff to be available. Lift and shower worked reliably, Room was clean but no hand soap. We were able to find free on-street parking approx a 15 minutes walk away - normal for a centrally located Travelodge. The best part of this booking was the location - central, making the city accessible.

Please 🙏 don’t stay in this hotel if you’re on your own or if you have anything valuables with you. I chose the hotel because it is the closest hotel in the city centre, I booked for 9 days. When I arrived the receptionist told me that she moved my room to the first floor - it could be red flag! On the weekend and bank holiday monday, I was followed by 4 guys - 3 men and 1 woman every time I going inside the hotel, waiting for me by the reception or by the main door. I was scared of my life! - I was push by the door when I was inserting my key card going in the hotel rooms, luckily there was one guest behind us so they ran fast inside the hotel. Every time I saw them following behind me I turned back to the reception where the cctv is and waited for guests to come in so I can go with them. I reported by phone because there was no one in the reception most of the time and reported personally to the receptionist, however I was told that they may be one of the guests as well. I planned to move to another hotel because I didn’t feel safe anymore after 3 days of being followed by strangers but unfortunately I got befriended with one of the guests in the first floor and we agreed to go in and out together. After my friend checked out I moved to Ibis hotel where I felt safer and more secured until my training in the area finished. If you think of your safety please don’t stay in this hotel 🙏 🙏

Do not book a room at this hotel because the Travelodge lies and says it has air conditioning. I'm currently in an oven with a basic fan. The staff member couldn't even put me in an air-conditioned room when I asked for one. Apparently, it's not their hotel, so they don't know which room isn't an oven. Seriously, pay more for an honest hotel.

Not the cleanest. Piss marks all over the wall. Shower is not as bad but not clean. Beds seem clean at first but has hairs on them and under the sheets the mattress is stained so much.
