Heron Cottage

Highland Perthshire draws walkers and nature watchers for its lochs, mountains and working countryside. Heron Cottage sits on the Kinnaird Estate, a sprawling property between Logierait Bridge and the Upper Kinnaird Fishing Hut, where the grounds run down to the river's edge. You have the whole place to yourself—a detached cottage restored in 2021 but keeping its character, spread across two floors with modern comforts throughout.

Downstairs, an open-plan living space combines sitting room, dining area and kitchen, with a woodburner, smart TV and everything needed to cook properly: electric oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave and fridge. A utility room with washer-dryer handles the practicalities. Upstairs and down, each bedroom is an ensuite—one with a roll-top bath and separate shower, the other with a shower cubicle. Both beds are zip-and-link super kings that split into singles if needed. Bed linen, towels and wi-fi are included; heating and hot water are taken care of, and initial logs for the woodburner come with the cottage. Parking for two cars sits on site, and one dog stays free.

The surrounding estate offers immediate access to paths and riverside walking; Pitlochry and Dunkeld are within reach for further exploration. A garden with seating and a BBQ catches the best of the location. The river and some steep drops in the grounds mean this cottage suits couples and families with older children rather than toddlers. No smoking indoors.
