About The Ballinluig Hotel

Ballinluig sits a few miles from Pitlochry in Perth and Kinross, with Scone Palace among the local points of interest, making the area a good base for exploring this part of Perthshire. Within the village itself, The Ballinluig Hotel offers straightforward accommodation across 11 rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, free WiFi and drinks available in room.

The kitchen is the main draw here, with a restaurant serving generous portions and a well-liked Sunday roast, plus a bar for a quieter drink. There's a garden and outdoor seating for warmer days, and free on-site parking for anyone arriving by car. Staff are consistently described as friendly and welcoming, and the hotel also hosts weddings and offers concierge services for guests wanting help planning their stay. It's worth noting that while public areas and food get good marks, some visitors have found the bedrooms could do with more care.

Outside the hotel, the surrounding area offers golf and fishing nearby, along with walking routes, pubs and restaurants within easy reach. It suits travellers who want a comfortable base with a decent meal at the end of the day, rather than a destination in itself.

I am reviewing the restaurant aspect of The Ballinluig Inn. Ample parking directly outside of the inn. I have mobility issues so a parking spot close to the main entrance was a great help. A lovely bar and restaurant. Our waitress was so welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for her and definitely a credit to your team. A wide variety of dishes and drink available to suit all tastes. Ordering is done at your table and again our waitress was fantastic. We had a variety of mains and they were all so delicious and tasty. Compliments to the chef! My macaroni cheese was delicious! As was my daughter's burger and my friend chose the carvery option. Very impressed with the food. A must to visit if you are in the area and I would definitely return. Left a tip too to reflect the fantastic food and service! Thank you for a lovely dining experience.

I can't comment on the rooms as we stayed in the carpark in our camper. The food was excellent. Better than the usual pub stuff. To be fair not had much better. As for price, it was for nothing. How the odd person thinks this place is expensive is beyond me. The young lady serving was brilliant. Cannot recommend this place enough if you need a stop-off on the horrible A9 🤣. Definitely staying again the next time we're coming past.

This place is very confusing and doesn't add up! The rooms are severely lacking upgrade and do not look like the photos on the website, but the food for both dinner and breakfast was amazing (although pretty expensive for an isolated inn)?! Along with the staff being very friendly and accommodating. Be aware that the extra £20 charge to have your dog in the dog friendly room (is advertised beforehand) seems a bit of a joke, as not sure how this much money can be spent on extra cleaning in the already tired room, since the whole room has vinyl floorings... We also left minimal mess and found half an oreo under the sofa when we arrived... The parking is also really sketchy, with only enough room to just get your car off the main road, with large lorries coming past. Wouldn't stay for a nice weekend away, as there is nothing else but a petrol station within walking distance, but decent enough for a layover.

Stopped for an ad hoc night and was not disappointed. The food quality was excellent and all staff were friendly and the food service was terrific. Some of the room features would benefit from being upgraded but everything was super clean and functional. Would visit again.
