About OYO Shanklin Beach Hotel

Many rooms at OYO Shanklin Beach Hotel come with their own balcony looking out over the sea, a feature that sets this Esplanade address apart from other options in Shanklin. The hotel sits directly on the seafront on the Isle of Wight, giving easy access to the beach and the town's other attractions.

Rooms include drinks and are served by a lift and porter services, with luggage storage available for those arriving before check-in or leaving after checkout. It should be said that some rooms are showing their age and maintenance has not always kept pace, though the staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, and the hotel is generally considered good value for money.

Free on-site parking is provided, useful given the coastal location. Nearby, guests can find pubs, bars, restaurants and eateries, along with entertainment, fishing and watersports on offer close to the hotel, making it a straightforward base for exploring Shanklin.

We stayed for 3 nights on the 31st of July. The room was adequate and clean. No hairdryer supplied but you could hire one from reception for a charge. The bed was really comfortable and clean and the bathroom had soap/ shower gel despensers. Our room was to the rear of the hotel and was nice and quiet. The meals were really nice and the times and running of the restaurant worked really well. There were some spiders above our table and we pointed them out to the waitress who said it was above her pay grade to move them.We said she might mention it to the cleaning staff. They were still there the morning and evening after so we got rid of them ourselves!!The bar was fine but the entertainment room was bland and needed up grading. The part of the hotel that really needs improvement is the frontage. It really is poor. There were wall ashtrays which were overflowing the whole weekend and never emptied, so the floor was strewn with cigarette ends as well as bits of rubbish. The hotel lettering is Broken, shabby and dirty. The tables and chairs are tatty and some are broken Surely someone is responsible for the look.of the hotel. It should have been swept, cleaned and tidied both morning and night. It really looks bad and the location alone deserves the frontage to be looked after much better. There is no evidence of any pride in how it looks and it has no curb appeal what so ever which is a great shame. It let's down all the good points about the hotel. If it's judged by outward appearance it's not very inviting or welcoming at all. The prime location and the hotel both deserve much better to make it look appealing and looked after.

First of all, yes Hotel is in need of an update but for how much we paid we thought it was value for money. The staff in the hotel were brilliant. Dining room team were very obliging. Bar staff very welcoming and beds were turned over/made every day. We thought the variety of food was good and tasty. Our driver,Alan, was fantastic and made it a holiday to remember. Trips were great and I even went on a small chair lift at the Needles which I never normally do!!!. Sea view room was the highlight stepping out onto the balcony and listening to the sea every evening.. By far the best holiday we have had with Caledonian so far and we can't wait to return. Thank you so much to everyone at The Shanklin Beach for our experience.

Absolutely terrible. We paid an extra £180 for sea view. View great, decking on balcony broken seats go straight through my niece got a spelk in her foot first day. Bedroom carpet disgusting. T.V broken apparently most t.vs been off for weeks. Bathroom like a patchwork quilt and full of mould. Shower so small you can't bend down to pick your shampoo off the floor as no shelf ( and I'm not overweight ). Meals words can't describe. Scrambled eggs half cooked sent them back they came back a hard lump on a slice of dry toast. A lot of people ate out and that just wasn't our coach. Morning we left was a bacon or sausage butties black burnt bacon so had no food till our first stop at 2.00pm. I've been doing coach tours for 42 years in a lot of 2 star hotel this one was the worst.

All staff excellent. Nathan, one of the managers, went the extra mile to help resolve issues with our TV reception. We upgraded to a sea view room, and it was well worth the extra. Peaceful and relaxing Would definitely return.
