About The Braemar
Grange Road sits within easy reach of Shanklin's beach and the coastal paths that trace this stretch of the Isle of Wight, giving The Braemar a settled, walkable base for exploring the seafront and cliffs beyond. It's a straightforward, welcoming B&B rather than a grand hotel, with 11 rooms and a garden to sit in when the weather allows.
Guests get a proper cooked breakfast to start the day, plus a bar and snack bar for lighter moments, and a restaurant on site for evening meals. There's free WiFi throughout, a lift for those who'd rather avoid the stairs, and a small gym if you want to keep up a routine while away. The property also handles weddings and meetings, with porter and concierge services on hand and free on-site parking for anyone arriving by car.
Pets are welcome, so it suits guests travelling with a dog as much as those on their own. Beyond the front door there are pubs, restaurants and other entertainment nearby, making it easy to fill an evening after a day on the coastal paths or beach.

What guests say
Our early August stay here was exactly what we were hoping for. Claire and Boz were the perfect hosts, welcoming and friendly with a wonderful knowledge of the best places to visit as well as to eat. Shanklin itself was delightful (we must have been up and down the Chine at least twice a day!) and a perfect base to explore the island. Our room was clean and comfortable with access to a lovely veranda and there was an adequate choice for breakfast. We'd recommend the Braemar and would happily return.

Fantastic hosts, made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was lovely each morning with a wide variety of selections. Room immaculate and lovely outdoor terrace, perfect for nice weather! The games room with a pool table an added bonus. Brilliant location right in the heart of Shanklin old village. We are a young couple but we loved our stay and when we visit again, we’ll definitely come back.

Had another fantastic stay at the weekend. Claire and Boz are great hosts, with a warm and friendly greeting from the moment you see them. They helped make my husbands 60th birthday a birthday to remember, with balloons and a happy birthday banner at our breakfast table. Attention to detail is very high on their agenda. They recommended a lovely restaurant to eat to celebrate his birthday and we were not disappointed. Very clean room, comfy large bed and full hearty breakfast. Claire and Boz go the extra mile to make your stay with them special. What lovely people. We will be back again soon. Will not stay anywhere else. Great location in Shanklin old town. Free and secure car parking at the back of the house. Bonus of sitting out on the terrace roof with the sun shining.

Recent stay here was just fantastic. We had the superking room (number 4), was very spacious and had direct access to a shared balcony area from the room. Breakfast was very nice too, plenty of selection and enough to set you up for the day. The owners are fantastic, very helpful and welcoming. Me and my wife thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the braemar and will definitely be back
