A small, ten-room hotel in Shanklin with indoor and outdoor pools and sea views from the garden, some areas showing their age.
About The Brunswick Hotel
The Brunswick Hotel is a modest, ten-room property on Queen's Road in Shanklin, Isle of Wight, with the feel of a long-established seaside hotel rather than a slick modern build. It won't suit anyone after contemporary polish, as parts of the building are showing their age, but it makes up for this with genuine warmth and a good range of facilities for its size.
Rooms are described as spacious and clean, with en-suite bathrooms, family rooms available, and extras such as room service and in-room drinks. Breakfast is served with a wide variety on offer, and the restaurant, bar and snack bar cover meals through the day, including kids' menus. Guests can use both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, along with a spa and sauna, and the garden is a particular draw thanks to its sea views.
Staff are noted for being friendly and helpful, and the hotel is generally considered good value. Free on-site parking is provided, pets are welcome, and there's a lift for those who need it. Outside, the area suits walking and cycling, with golf, fishing and watersports nearby, plus pubs and restaurants within easy reach.

Our second stay at this lovely hotel. The welcome and help from Amber and Jazmine is great and genuine. Our room was on ground floor with easy access to the lovely dining room and out to the gardens overlooking the sea. Plenty of free car parking, comfortable bed, walk in shower etc. There is an indoor swimming pool and a large outdoor pool. Big menu for breakfast with cereal, juices, coffee tea and toast easily to hand. It is difficult to fault this hotel and we look forward to our next longer stay. Discount on ferry price of booker direct which we recommend. Thanks to all at The Brunswick for making us feel welcome .

We stayed at Brunswick in the end of April 2025 with our two dogs. This place is extremely dog friendly; our dogs were even offered sausages at breakfast at no extra cost 😄 Bless these people, they were all so attentive and helpful, and it all felt genuine. The room we had was spacious and clean. Through communal area we had access to a balcony with a breathtaking view onto the garden and the sea. The garden is very attractive; if you're lucky with the weather you can enjoy sitting there at a small table for two, or at a big round family size table. There's a swimming pool area with the gate that separates it from the main garden. This makes it safer for small children, and if you have dogs with you. You can easily access the beach; it takes from 5 to 7 minutes to walk there. Keep in mind that from the 1st of May dogs are not allowed on the main beaches. We were lucky: the weather in April was great, and we took dogs every morning to play on the beach. Dawns here are spectacular: I highly recommend you to get up early to watch the sea turn into gold. Parking is substancial, although I'm not sure if there's enough space when the hotel is full. You need to enquire. I say that all in all it was a great value for money and it left us with a warm happy feeling. Same for our dogs; I would like to specially thank the staff for being so dog friendly. Our two felt really loved 😍 Thank you very much!

Just returned from a very enjoyable 3 night stay at the Brunswick. The hotel was quiet at this time of year, but the staff were all very pleasant and attentive. The Brunswick is ideally situated between the old town and the beach, with a short stroll to each. The room (5) was spacious and clean, with lovely views out over the cliff path to the sea beyond. Breakfast choices and portions were ample, and the food was always freshly cooked and piping hot! All in all, the Brunswick provided excellent value for money, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting Shanklin

Visited hotel for afternoon drinks. Lovely hotel. Didn't see rooms. Had 1 lager which was very very flat.!! Needs pipes cleaning! The draught cider was nice though. Lovely location.
