Quarry Cottage
Westmorland and Furness
Penrith sits at the edge of the Lake District, with the Eden Valley spreading out beyond it and the North Pennines visible across the landscape. Quarry Cottage is a barn conversion on the town's outskirts, close enough to reach the market town's shops and pubs on foot, yet far enough removed to feel secluded. The property is yours alone, with parking for two cars and direct access to the M6 for journeys north to Scotland or south towards other parts of the region.
Inside, a ground-floor bedroom contains a double bed, and the bathroom sits next to a kitchen with full cooking facilities and a dining area. Upstairs, the living room is the heart of the place—bright and airy, it opens onto a balcony overlooking the Eden Valley and the North Pennines. A sofa bed here means the cottage can sleep four. Wifi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included; no smoking is permitted throughout.
From here, Ullswater is within easy reach for a lakeside walk or a trip on the vintage steamers. Serious walkers head into the fells for anything from low-level routes to climbs up Helvellyn, while those wanting something gentler can explore Lowther Castle and Gardens, or drive deeper into the Eden Valley and pick up the Settle to Carlisle railway line. Penrith itself has independent shops, arcades, restaurants and a strong pub scene to explore on foot.
