The Coach House

Westmorland and Furness

View on Google Maps

The Lake District around Grasmere draws walkers and families year-round, and White Moss Car Park sits just outside the door here. The Coach House itself dates back to the early 1800s, when it was purchased as a family home. Today it functions as a self-contained property sleeping six across three bedrooms—two doubles and one twin—plus two bathrooms spread over the ground floor. A woodburning stove warms the open-plan living and dining space, which opens directly onto the garden through French doors.

The one-acre grounds contain mature trees, mature lawned areas and a patio with seating. An old quarry cave sits within the property boundary. Wildlife passes through regularly: red squirrels and deer are frequent visitors. From the house, the White Moss walk begins within a couple of minutes on foot, and a waterfall lies just beyond the garden wall. Rydal Water and Grasmere Lake are both reachable by direct walking routes. The village of Grasmere, a short distance away, has restaurants, bars and Dove Cottage, the museum devoted to William Wordsworth's time there. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking—electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and a separate utility room with dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are provided. Parking for two cars sits on site. No smoking is permitted.
