Amboseli Lodge

Great B&B! We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Amboseli Lodge! The location is fab, and our room had a great view of the park with mountains in the background, and was very comfortable and homely. Gwen and Reg are natural hosts, and nothing is too much trouble for them. They make you feel so welcome from the minute you step through the door - it sounds cliche, but it's like staying with family. There's a huge amount to choose from for breakfast, we ate so much at breakfast time that we ate a minimal amount for lunch just to make sure we actually had an appetite when we went out for tea! Because there's only three double rooms, we got to know the other four guests over breakfast. I've never really experienced this before in a B&B, but it was nice getting to know new people and the atmosphere was so friendly that it didn't take any effort at all. The only difficulty we had was when we were blocked in by another guest as the parking is quite tight. However, Reg immediately offered to give us a lift! In the end, we simply walked from Ambleside rather than driving to our starting point. Reg suggested a route that was really picturesque and easy, and to be honest we were really glad we'd walked it in the end. Overall we couldn't recommend Amboseli Lodge enough - a real gem. We're already planning to pop back next year!

This is possibly one of the best places to stay in Ambleside. Gwen and Reg are lovely hosts and have a wealth of knowledge of the area; from best places to visit / hike to good food in the town. The rooms are always spotlessly clean and the beds are wonderfully comfortable. The breakfasts are freshly prepared and really tasty! There's a good selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurts and juices laid out for you to help yourself and an excellent menu for hot breakfasts, croissants and rolls. More than enough to set you up for a walk in the fells!

This family converted B&B was fab, clean rooms, although the decor of the room was a tad too homely, but by no means a bad thing. However, the ensuite in contrast was very modern and sleek that would be more hotel like. The addition of free parking in the back was a bonus if you walk around town. The hosts were absolutely brilliant and made you feel everybit at home. Breakfast was also very very good but one slight criticism is that we found ourselves kinda disturbed quite a few times during breakie... I know that it was purely because the hosts were very friendly and gave us lots of info, but sometimes for breakie you wanna chat and enjoy it.

The best B&B in Ambleside, Gwen and Reg are perfect hosts and the rooms are immaculately presented with everything you need to make your stay perfect. Exceptional breakfast, free parking and Wi-Fi and a lovely garden.
