Owl Cottage
Canterbury
Owl Cottage is a Grade II listed property in Fordwich, a riverside village with genuine character. The semi-detached cottage has been refurbished throughout and sits on the quiet side of a place known more for its two pubs and Michelin-starred restaurant than crowds. Two steps lead to the entrance, where narrow, steep stairs take you up to the first floor. Downstairs there's a living room with a TV and electric fire, a separate dining room, and a galley kitchen with an oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. The bathroom has a bath with shower over and heated towel rail. Upstairs are two bedrooms: one with a 5ft kingsize bed and one with a 4ft 6in double.
The property is yours alone for the duration of your stay. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. An enclosed back garden has a patio with furniture and a barbecue available April to October. Private parking for two cars is on site, and bike storage can be arranged. No smoking throughout.
Fordwich itself sits on the River Great Stour, with walking and cycling routes radiating outward through the Kent Downs. Canterbury's cathedral and historic centre are three miles away. Whitstable's shingle beach and oyster bars are twelve miles north. The Crab and Winkle Way cycle route passes nearby, and in season, paddleboarders and canoeists can hire equipment locally for river trips, including organised beaver-spotting.
