About Pontlands Park Hotel

Pontlands Park Hotel is a country house set within its own grounds on West Hanningfield Road, just outside Chelmsford. The building has an air of traditional English hospitality, with gardens and outdoor seating areas that guests can wander before or after making use of the spa, which includes an outdoor pool, hot tub, and an indoor pool as well.

Rooms are spacious and well kept, with en-suite bathrooms, family and accessible options, and touches such as room service and drinks available on request. The hotel's restaurant serves a well-regarded breakfast and afternoon tea, with kids' meals and packed lunches available too, and there's a bar for something more relaxed. A gym, meeting rooms, and a bridal suite make it a practical choice for weddings and small events alongside leisure stays.

Chelmsford Cathedral and Hylands Park are both within reach, and the surrounding area offers golf, fishing, and further pubs and restaurants nearby. Free on-site parking and an electric vehicle charge point round out the practicalities, and staff are noted for being attentive and helpful throughout a stay.

Had a celebration lunch at Pontlands Park Hotel with 14 of my family on Sunday 26th July for my parents 50th Wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived we were looked after perfectly. The location and atmosphere were just perfect. We had a private room with an oval table which opened out onto a really lovely patio area with plenty of seating. The food and service were absolutely spot on! I would highly recommended this hotel for any kind of special occasion. Thank you to all involved for making a very special occasion even more special

We hired a private function room for a family afternoon tea, the room was perfect with doors opening out in to the patio/gardens. The staff were excellent from the organising & booking arrangements to the waiting staff we could have asked for more helpful and friendly service. And the food was lovely so thank you to the kitchen staff too. We will definitely return. Thank you!

We’re just home from celebrating my husbands 60th birthday in drakes, at pontlands park. We had the most wonderful time celebrating with family and friends… the food was delicious, the venue is stunning.. a huge tipi with added outside seating surrounded by beautiful countryside.. the ambience was perfect… just what I was looking for in a relaxed family gathering… as the sun faded subtle lighting lit the area, it was just perfect in every way. The waiting staff and managers were so friendly and extremely attentive… nothing was too much trouble. It lovely to be greeted by staff who have worked here for many years, and always seem to remember us, when we return. Some of us stayed over , our rooms were huge spacious and noticeably immaculate… we all slept so well. We had the loveliest breakfast followed by coffee on the terrace where we enjoyed the beautiful garden area… the garden is kept so lovely, it was thoughtfully accessible for the two blind people on our party, which was very much appreciated. Myself and my husband also visited the spa area.. it was just perfection! The outside heated poor, relaxing sun terrace and out door hot tub were just the icing on the cake. I cannot recommend this wonderful hotel enough. Everything was fabulous from start to finish… my heart is full ( along with my stomach) and my soul restored. Thank you lisa and team for a wonderful time. See you all again soon. Xxxx

Had an afternoon tea here and the venue is stunning!! Friendly staff and great food. Absolutely beautiful place. My only small comment is the staff could have been more attentive with offering more tea / coffee etc but other than that we can’t wait to come back! Didn’t stay therefore can’t comment on rooms but don’t want to mark down as I’m sure they’re equally amazing.
