Steelclose Mill - Steelclose House
County Durham
Durham sits at the heart of the North East, and on its outskirts, Steelclose House occupies a 16th-century converted corn mill within expansive grounds. The property is yours alone, with parking for four cars and an enclosed garden with patio and furniture. A private hot tub seats six. The grounds are shared with other properties on the estate, but there is an unfenced river in the grounds, which guests should be aware of.
Inside, you get four bedrooms spread over two floors: a kingsize and three further beds upstairs, including two super kingsize doubles. Three bathrooms and a shower room mean no queuing. Downstairs holds a living room with woodburner and Smart TV, a separate dining room, and a kitchen fitted with electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, coffee machine and American fridge. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are covered; initial fuel for the woodburner is included too. One dog is welcome at no extra charge. The property does not permit smoking.
The layout suits groups of friends or extended families rather than couples, and the kitchen capacity makes it an appealing base for those who want to self-cater properly. High chairs and travel cots are available on request. The setting works for rural escapes with easy reach of Durham's cathedral and city centre.
