About Premier Inn Edinburgh East

Well-placed socket points in every room might sound like a small thing, but it's the kind of practical detail that stands out at Premier Inn Edinburgh East, a straightforward three-floor hotel on Willowbrae Road with 50 rooms geared towards guests who want comfort without fuss. Rooms come en-suite, with drinks available in-room, and family and accessible rooms are on offer alongside a lift for easy access throughout the building.

Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar serving on-site dining, plus breakfast to set guests up for the day. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, and on-site parking is available, though it comes at a charge. It's worth noting that while most rooms are kept clean and comfortable, a few visitors have found their room a little tired around the edges, so standards can vary.

The location works well for exploring Edinburgh, with Holyrood Palace and Edinburgh Castle both within reach. Nearby options extend to golf, fishing, and a good spread of pubs and restaurants for evenings out. It's a hotel built around reliable basics rather than extras, and for many that's exactly the appeal.

We had a 3 night stay on a Scotland roundtrip. First things first, it takes 20 minutes by bus to the city center which is quite good. There are 2 different bus stops in 3 minutes walking distance with like a dozen different bus lines and the tap on system with a weekly cap is perfect for tourists. The hotel itself is the worst premier inn I've ever seen and I stayed at some. The rooms are completely worn down. Bathroom was moldy, extractor fan wasn't working in all of our rooms. Parts of the room were dusty. The breakfast itself is something between good and okay. The staff is extremely stressed and always in a hurry, so you don't feel comfortable while starting your day relaxed. Warm food was good, everything else is standard but fine. The restaurant wasn't open at the time we stayed there. So we had to grab a drink in the city and we gathered together in of our rooms afterwards. Would not stay here again - better pay a few pounds more and get a better hotel or another location for the same price.

Stayed here at the end of January on holidays. The hotel is situated in an excellent location, with very a reliable bus service to the city centre. The staff are friendly and always had a smile. The rooms have a lovely feel, old, yet cosy, and they also have a Beefeater restaurant on site which is very good. The room rates are also extremely reasonable. Overall I would highly recommend the Premier Inn Edinburgh East. I will definitely be staying here in the future.

1) It was a bit difficult to find the reception but check-in was quick and smooth. 2) Room was decent with a nice view at night. 3) The bathroom was a nightmare! Black mould everywhere, it was too irritating to wash up in. Water heating seemed to be broken too because it wouldn’t warm up until you run it for at least 10 minutes! 4) Room heating was also not good despite being thermostat-controlled. I kept turning it all the way up because the room wouldn’t warm up enough. Wouldn’t recommend as it was not worth the money I paid for a weekend stay.

Very disappointing stay and easily the worst Premier Inn I've used. The hotel feels tired and in need of refurbishment with issues ranging from cleanliness and maintenance to poor customer service. Based on both my experience and what appears to be a consistent theme in other reviews standards here are well below what I'd normally expect from Premier Inn. The reception experience was dreadful. One receptionist in particular, a larger lady with a nose piercing, was unfriendly, rude and very dismissive. I also witnessed a customer being ignored while waiting for assistance which reflects a lack of basic customer service and hospitality. I've always viewed Premier Inn as a decent value for money chain but this stay has changed my opinion. This is the poorest Premier Inn I've stayed in and as a result I'll be avoiding any future ones.
