About The Glasshouse Autograph Collection

A rooftop garden overlooking the city is the standout feature at The Glasshouse Autograph Collection, a 77-room hotel in Edinburgh's centre near Greenside Place. It's the kind of space that makes the most of the location, giving guests a quiet spot above the streets to take in the views before heading out to explore.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and room service, with family and accessible options available, though some rooms show signs of wear that the hotel could pay closer attention to. Staff are consistently attentive and well-informed, and the wider facilities run deep: a restaurant and bar, spa and sauna, indoor swimming pool, business services, valet parking and concierge support, plus outdoor seating and a picnic area for milder days. The hotel also caters for weddings and VIP stays.

Beyond the doors, the surrounding area offers walking and cycling routes, golf, fishing and horse riding nearby, along with a good spread of pubs and restaurants. It's a well-equipped base for a city stay, with enough on-site to fill an evening or start a day of sightseeing.

Really great hotel with a gorgeous facade and updated lobby. Amazing location just a walk from so much. The staff is also lovely and Wally tries to go out of their way. Just note that the “terrace suites” are not actually suites. It’s a beautiful oversized room but not a suite as there’s no separation from the bedroom to the sitting area.

Really an amazing location. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Extra points to bellboys and concierge for helping with our bags. The rooms was great with view of the street. The gym was a bit small without windows but we decided to run outside alone the river. The atrium was nice with food options. The bed was great.

We spent two nights at The Glasshouse last week. Great location and friendly staff. Big shout out to the two concierge kilted men — both very helpful and knowledgeable. This might have been a five star hotel years ago but it’s so worn and tired now. We stay at Bonvoy properties all over and this was at best a3 star property— but only because of its location. Desperately in need of a major renovation and I would recommend you stay somewhere else.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Glass House. The room was beautiful, with an exceptionally comfortable bed dressed in luxurious linens and pillows. The bathroom was equally impressive, featuring first-class fittings and a wonderfully indulgent heated floor that we especially appreciated. The entire staff was excellent, and what truly made our stay memorable was the outstanding hospitality from concierge Davie. He graciously walked us to our room and gave us a tour of the stunning rooftop garden, and pointed out many of the nearby historic treasures. He also introduced us to the hotel’s artwork collection by Liana Moran, whose work we admired so much that we purchased a piece from a gallery along the Royal Mile — an easy and enjoyable walk from the hotel. The location could not have been better. The hotel is right in the heart of the city center, across from John Lewis Edinburgh and within walking distance of both Edinburgh Castle and Calton Hill, as well as countless excellent restaurants and shops. We especially enjoyed a fantastic dinner at The Dome on George Street. We would gladly stay here again and highly recommend the Glass House to anyone visiting Edinburgh.
