About Glenegedale House

Glenegedale House stands on open ground midway between Bowmore and Port Ellen, close to Islay Airport, with sweeping views across farmland to the Mull of Oa and out towards the Atlantic. It holds Visit Scotland's five-star and AA five-star Gold awards, reflecting a level of finish and service well above the typical island guest house.

Four individually designed en-suite bedrooms are furnished to a high standard, and breakfasts are a genuine highlight, cooked to order with island produce and served in a bright dining room looking out over the surrounding fields. The house is licensed and has a small honesty bar for guests in the evening.

Its position roughly midway between Bowmore and Port Ellen makes Glenegedale House a genuinely central base for reaching distilleries in both directions, as well as Islay Airport and the Big Strand beach, all within a few minutes' drive.

We cannot wait to come back! We were only able to secure one night because we booked our trip a bit last minute but I wish we could have stayed for much longer. This is a must stay on Islay. The accommodations are cozy. This is the cleanest place we have ever stayed. It was immaculate. Emma and Graeme take so much pride is providing the perfect stay and do an amazing job. Ask them for Islay tips. The food is incredible, I mean wow! Make sure you join them for dinner and get the porridge at breakfast!! Thanks to the best hosts for the best stay. We hope to see you again soon.

Absolutely love this place. Emma and Greame created a place that makes you feel you are in your second home from the moment you enter the door. They are excellent hosts who can recommend you all the little things you need to discover during your trip. The house is superbly located (don't worry about the proximity to the airport, there is only one or two flights a day), in the middle of the island which makes is a great base to discover all the distilleries. It is tastefully designed and kept in shape so nicely. Breakfast is simply amazing (try "the hooked"). We cannot judge the dinner but we have heard it is outstanding as well. If I ever go back to Isla, there will be no need for research unless they are fully booked.

You simply will be hard pressed to find a nicer B and B anywhere. Emma and Graeme have put their heart and soul into providing accommodations and stays that enhance your beautiful Islay visit. Everywhere we went, locals were in agreement with how pleasant and hard working our hosts were. A few lamented that only guests could experience the dining experience offered at Glenegedale house. They are both incredibly hard working and involved in improving Islay for visitors and locals alike. You will not be disappointed should you be lucky enough to book one of these 4 rooms.

We had the most wonderful stay at Glenegedale House during our trip to Islay. Emma and Graeme went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and more. The accommodations were very comfortable and the food was the best we had on our entire trip. We know we will be back the next time we return to Islay!
