Wanton Wa’s

Nine Mile Burn sits in quiet countryside between Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders, surrounded by the walking and cycling routes of Pentland Hills Regional Park. Wanton Wa's is a ground-floor cottage that sleeps six across three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a wood-burning stove in the living room, a practical kitchen with dishwasher and induction hob, and a conservatory overlooking the enclosed garden. Bed linen, towels, wi-fi and electricity are all included; the wood-burner's initial fuel is too.

The village of Penicuik lies a few miles south with everyday shops and takeaways, while West Linton to the southwest has independent traders and a regular monthly market. Peggy's Pool, a popular local swimming spot, is nearby. Edinburgh itself is around 15 miles away by car if you want the castle, the Royal Mile or the city's restaurants and galleries. Closer to the cottage, trails through Patie's Hill and across the wider Pentland Hills start within walking distance, suitable for all abilities. The area also has golf courses, Hillend Snowsports Centre and fishing lochs at Glencorse and Loganlea. One well-behaved dog is welcome. There is an unfenced stream running through the garden.
