Alice Howe

Westmorland and Furness

View on Google Maps

Alice Howe is a grade II listed house designed by Augustus Pugin, the 19th-century architect whose work defined the House of Lords and Westminster Abbey. Set in Westmorland and Furness near Windermere, it offers seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms across three storeys, accommodating up to 14 guests in a whole property rental. Three of the bedrooms feature four-poster king beds; the others have singles or bunks, with cots and highchairs available for younger children. Each bedroom has either an ensuite or access to a bathroom.

The ground floor centres on a kitchen with two ovens, a range, two dishwashers and American-style fridges, opening into dining space anchored by a woodburner. There's a separate cinema room with a 75-inch screen, and a living room with an open fire. A utility room handles laundry. The enclosed patio holds garden furniture and a barbecue; a private hot tub seats seven. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; heating comes from gas central heating and the fireplaces. An electric car charging point and parking for six vehicles are available on site. The property does not permit smoking.
