Sycamore Cottages - Upper Sycamore Cottage
Westmorland and Furness
View on Google MapsUpper Sycamore Cottage is a traditional stone apartment set across two floors in the middle of Ambleside. The building's character comes through in its layout and the way the rooms frame different aspects of the surrounding landscape—the living room looks towards the Fairfield Horseshoe, while the first-floor bedroom opens onto views across the village towards St Mary's steeple. It sleeps four: one bedroom has a king bed, the other two singles, with a shower room on the first floor and the main living space upstairs.
The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking, with an oven, hob, microwave and dishwasher, plus a washing machine tucked away. Essentials like electricity, heating, towels and wifi are included. There's a parking permit for nearby public car parks and space in the yard for loading. A pub sits 150 yards away, a restaurant even closer, and the Ambleside bus interchange (Stand 1) is within easy reach for exploring the lakes by water or heading further afield. Families travelling with young children will find a travel cot and highchair available. The cottage is non-smoking throughout.
Walking books and maps are provided, along with a selection of DVDs. This works well for a small family or two couples wanting a central base for fell walking, with the hills immediately accessible but the option to sit out the rain with a film instead.
