Woodside Cottage

Westmorland and Furness

View on Google Maps

Merewood village sits between two of the Lake District's principal towns. Windermere and Ambleside are each roughly two miles away, reachable by car or the bus stop at the end of the road. Brockhole on Windermere lies nearby. The cottage itself is part of a barn conversion within the grounds of Merewood Lodge, with its own garden and parking for one car, plus additional visitor spaces.

Woodside has two bedrooms and two bathrooms across three floors. Downstairs is a double with ensuite shower. The first floor holds an open-plan living area with kitchen, dining space and sitting room—the latter furnished with a three-piece suite, television and DVD player. The kitchen has two electric ovens, an induction hob, microwave, dishwasher and washer-dryer, and connects to a separate drying and storage room. Upstairs is a second bedroom with zip-and-link beds. Essentials including electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are provided. A small garden with decking and furniture overlooks the grounds, though fireworks and barbecues are not permitted due to nearby livestock.

Two steps lead to the entrance; ten more reach the decking area. The rear garden is accessed from the upper floor. This works well for couples or families of four wanting a self-contained base during a Lake District stay.
