Arkland Mill stands on the 3000-acre Crofts Estate, where the Galloway Hills rise around you and the Solway Firth lies visible in the distance. The location puts you within walking distance of woodland trails and hillside paths, while Dumfries (12 miles away) has shops, restaurants, museums and a theatre. Castle Douglas, an 8-mile drive, is a traditional market town known for independent food shops. The National Trust's Threave Gardens are 8 miles off, beaches along the Solway are easily reached, and the Galloway Forest Park and Kite Trail are both nearby. A village shop and pub sit 4 miles away.

The detached house has four bedrooms and three bathrooms, sleeping six. Downstairs holds a living room with a woodburner and patio doors opening to the garden, a kitchen with an oil Aga, a utility room and a sun room. Upstairs are three further bedrooms, two with ensuite showers. Electricity, bed linen and towels are provided. The garden is large, with a summerhouse and a bridge over the stream that runs through the grounds. There is parking on site. One well-behaved pet is welcome. No smoking throughout.
