Melfort House

A wonderful repurposed manor house! Mathew was a delightful host taking care to insure our stay was great. Breakfast was the usual selection of cereal and muscce with fresh fruit plus made to order eggs and breakfast meat served hot to your plate. We didn't avail ourselves of the dinner fare but have no doubt it also would not disappoint. The rooms were squeaky clean with a large comfortable bed and a bathroom equipped with large towels and plenty of hot water. The common rooms were decorated with interesting antiques and paintings. We availed ourselves of the large, sunny lounge by reading the nice selection of reading materials while enjoyed the picturesque panorama of the garden. Later I played fetch will two friendly dogs who wander about the place. Overall a very wonderful experience with an excellent owner who even drove us to the bus stop. Though the property isn't as close to Oban as we expected, it was stilll a great stay worth 5 stars...but don't depend of public transportation!

We were fortunate to stay at Melfort House for my 60th birthday and it was a perfect visit with a delicious dinner prepared by Matthew. The Loch Room was very spacious, comfortable, had gorgeous views and it was very difficult to leave after a too brief 2 night stay.

Melfort House is a hidden gem of the rural Scottish coastline. The perfect layover for my husband and I, headed to the Isle of Mull. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was warm and the art and gardens were gorgeous. Thank you for having us. We will be back.

Lovely place to stay. Good accomodation and excellent restaurant. May good walks in the area.
