Camping for the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Revival and Glorious Goodwood: official event camping and the campsites near Chichester and the coast.

The Goodwood estate, in the South Downs just north of Chichester, hosts some of the best-attended motoring and racing events in Britain: the Festival of Speed in the grounds of Goodwood House in July, the Revival at the Motor Circuit in September, the Members' Meeting in spring, and the Qatar Goodwood Festival, better known as Glorious Goodwood, at the racecourse on the hill above. Rooms within twenty miles are booked out a year ahead for the big weekends, so camping is a mainstay. This guide covers event camping and the campsites nearby. The full list is on our Chichester camping page.

Official event camping

For the Festival of Speed and the Revival, Goodwood sells its own camping on fields close to the venue, with pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes and pre-pitched options at a higher price. It is booked through Goodwood alongside event tickets and does not include entry. It is the most convenient place to stay and sells out early. If it has gone, the independent sites below are the alternative.

The closest campsites

Newhouse Farm Wild Camping is off-grid farm camping close to the estate, with tent and motorhome pitches, glamping, dogs welcome and campfires allowed. Concierge Camping at West Ashling, about four miles from the Motor Circuit, is one of the highest-rated touring parks in the south, at 4.8 from over 1,400 Google reviews; it takes tents, caravans and motorhomes, has glamping and hook-ups and accepts dogs. Chichester Lakeside Holiday Park on the edge of the city has fishing lakes and a pool and takes touring caravans. Lagnersh Camping takes tents and tourers with hook-ups, and Lordington Park is a tents-only site rated 4.9.

On the South Downs

For walkers, Gumber Farm is a simple tent site high on the Downs, rated 4.8, and Littleton Farm Campsite is tents-only, directly on the South Downs Way, with campfires allowed. Old Farm Camp and Touring Site near Slindon has woodland touring pitches with hook-ups and takes dogs.

Towards the coast

The Manhood Peninsula, south of Chichester, has the biggest choice, twenty to thirty minutes from Goodwood outside event traffic. Stubcroft Farm Campsite at East Wittering takes tents, caravans and motorhomes, allows campfires and is rated 4.7 from nearly 700 reviews. Red House Farm is a family-run site on a working farm near West Wittering, Scotts Farm Camping Site is a large site close to the beach, and Gees Camp Site is right by the sea. Near Sidlesham, Bucket and Spade has pitches and glamping, and for adults only, Furzefield Barn at Pagham is a small, quiet camping and glamping site rated 5.0.

What to check before booking

Traffic. The roads around Chichester are very slow on event mornings; a site five miles away can mean an hour in the car. Ask about park-and-ride and shuttle buses. Minimum stays. Three or four nights is usual for the Festival of Speed and the Revival. Dress. Most Revival visitors come in period clothes, so a site with decent showers and somewhere to change is worth having. Summer weekends. The coast sites are busy with beach traffic regardless of what is on at Goodwood.

Beyond the events

Chichester has a cathedral, a fine theatre and a walkable Roman street plan. West Wittering has one of the best sandy beaches on the south coast, Arundel has its castle, and Midhurst is the gateway to the western Downs.
