A relaxed coaching inn on The Buttlands serving fresh fish and chips and local ales, with comfortable bedrooms at the pub and nearby Arch House.
About The Globe Inn
The Globe Inn occupies a prominent spot on The Buttlands, Wells' Georgian green, and combines a genuinely relaxed pub atmosphere with straightforward, comfortable bedrooms. Rooms are split between the inn itself and Arch House, a short walk away, each finished with a coastal touch rather than any particular formality. The kitchen focuses on hearty, unfussy food, with fresh fish and chips a mainstay alongside daily specials, served in a bar that draws as many locals as visitors. Dogs are welcome throughout much of the pub, in keeping with its easy-going character. Its position on The Buttlands puts guests within easy reach of the quay, the beach road and the town's shops, while offering a quieter night's sleep than a room directly above the harbour. It suits visitors after a proper pub stay rather than a boutique hotel experience.

What guests say
Brilliant two night stay at the The Globe Inn. Perfect location, near to local amenities being just over the road from the main shops on Staithe Street, which you walk down to get to the harbour. We were pleasantly surprised that this dog-friendly hotel didn't at all have a "doggy" smell. The staff were lovely! We couldn't manage dessert with dinner, but popped back later before service ended and they very kindly offered to bring it to our room rather than us waiting ❤️

Catch of the day - Linguine with smoked salmon? Really? Charged at COTD price and itemised as Sea Bass o no the bill. It was delicious but can this be justified? The service was very good. This is the second time we have experienced The Globe and both times it appeared that they were trying to fit as many people in for dinner as possible - too many in fact. So, whilst the food and service were good, I cannot give it a better rating, which is a shame.

It was my first time staying in Wells as I normally just come for the day and have always said that I would stay at The Globe. I booked it last minute and stayed at The Arch House rooms. My room was very clean with a very comfortable bed. I enjoyed two evening meals which were both delicious. All the staff were great and a big thank you to Emily. I’m sure to return as I hear the Sunday Lunch is worthwhile.

We have just arrived home from a wonderful weekend break in Wells celebrating my husbands 60th. Given the beautiful location how could it be anything else. The cherry on the cake were our visits to The Globe, its dog friendly and relaxed comfy, atmosphere is spot on. All staff were great, so welcoming and friending, but Leah stood out, from the first visit alway friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Whenever we went in she remembered our drinks order. The food was delicious, particularly the roast beef on Sunday. Thank for making our weekend so memorable.
