Orrest Head Cottage

Orrest Head Cottage is a detached house in the grounds of Orrest Head House, above Windermere Village. The kitchen is fitted with an electric oven, hob and microwave, so you can cook proper meals rather than rely on takeaways. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are all included. There's parking for two cars on site, and an electric charging point if you need it.

The three bedrooms accommodate five guests: a super king on the ground floor, a single, and two singles elsewhere. Bathrooms are on both floors—a shower room downstairs and a full bathroom upstairs with bath and shower. A patio with garden furniture looks over the grounds, and there's a BBQ if you want to eat outside. One well-behaved pet is welcome. The cottage is no-smoking.

The real draw is what's on the doorstep. Orrest Head, considered one of the Lake District's finest short walks, starts from the back of the property and climbs through Common Woods. For less ambitious days, Windermere Village is a ten-minute walk away, with pubs, restaurants and a supermarket. The surrounding fields are National Trust land.
