About Ocean Mist Leith

Along the cobbled waterfront of The Shore in Leith, Ocean Mist Leith occupies a converted ship, giving its 17 rooms a distinctly nautical character rarely found elsewhere in Edinburgh. The setting puts guests right among the quayside pubs, restaurants and bars that line this stretch of the harbour, with the city centre a short journey away.

Rooms are well kept and comfortable, each with an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning and free WiFi, and drinks can be brought straight to the room. Breakfast is included and served each morning, while the on-site bar has become something of a draw in its own right, with a relaxed setting for cocktails and evening drinks that spills out to outdoor seating when the weather allows. Staff are on hand around the clock at 24-hour reception, and practical extras such as luggage storage, business services and free on-site parking make it easy to arrive with a car or on business.

Beyond the ship itself, Leith's waterside setting opens up watersports, fishing and golf nearby, alongside a good spread of restaurants, pubs and entertainment within walking distance. It's a fitting base for exploring the harbour and the city beyond, with the added novelty of sleeping aboard a converted vessel rather than a conventional hotel building.

This beautifully finished and maintained floating hotel was the surprise of our vacation so far. The spacious king suite was comfortable, very well equipped for a 3 night stay, the staff were excellent and the breakfast fresh and satisfying. The bar (which is open to the public) had a very respectable whisky selection as well as some notable signature cocktails. There were many options for eateries within easy walking distance and the Shore tram stop made getting to old town a breeze. Would definitely stay again!

Absolutely fabulous from start to finish. The staff were incredible and so helpful. They were all a pleasure to chat with throughout our stay. Our room was perfect. The bed was huge and exceptionally comfortable, and the attention to detail was outstanding. The bathroom was spacious, and the shampoo, conditioner and body wash were all lovely touches. We really enjoyed both the breakfast and the bar in the evening, which added to the overall experience. We couldn't have asked for more and would definitely recommend Ocean Mist to anyone looking for a fantastic place to stay.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Truly Unique and Unforgettable Stay I've stayed in many hotels over the years, but nothing quite prepares you for the magic of stepping aboard the Ocean Mist. This beautifully restored 1919 vessel is an absolute gem moored in the heart of Leith, and my two-night stay was nothing short of exceptional. The Pedley family's passion for this historic ship shines through in every single corner. The restoration is extraordinary — lovingly and painstakingly completed to the finest detail, with no corner cut and no element overlooked. It genuinely feels like sailing back to a more elegant era, while enjoying every modern comfort you could wish for. The staff deserve a special mention. From the moment you step across the gangway, every member of the team greets you with warmth and genuine helpfulness. They strike that perfect balance of being attentive without being intrusive, and nothing is ever too much trouble. The bar area is an absolute highlight — a wonderfully inviting space with stunning panoramic views of the waterfront that make it almost impossible to leave after just one drink. It's the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the unique atmosphere that only the Ocean Mist can offer. The cabins are beautifully appointed and far more comfortable than you might expect aboard a vessel of this age. A great night's sleep is guaranteed. Whether you're visiting Edinburgh for the first time or the tenth, do yourself a favour and stay on the Ocean Mist. It's not just a place to sleep — it's an experience you'll be talking about for years.

Enjoyed a fabulous stay aboard Ocean Mist .. amazing whats in there. Admired it on previous visits, booked it this time. All staff warm, friendly, approachable and keen to assist from check in, housekeeping, bar + breakfast. Bars a treat to sit in with a cocktail for an evening atmosphere or just with a book. Breakfast has great, lots of choice and all good qualIty fresh foods + tea/coffee. Boat historys an interesting read. My only reservation on arrival was the compactness of rooms + portholes, though everything you want/need is in there. Overall, a great experience though, pleased we booked it and do hope to stay again. !!! Big thanks to all at Ocean Mist x
